Many samurai walked about quite on their own. Yasuke, likely not the case. Any samurai with a considerable koku would have likely had assistants of some sort as well.

Even though I believe this existence is hell. I read something a while back, from an ancient India Sanskrit that gave me hope. It goes something like this: “If you knew what is in store for you after this life - you would never be unhappy again - no matter what”. Maybe there is something good or wonderful, so unexpected that we can’t possibly imagine or comprehend as lowly human beings - after we leave this world.

I’ve recently come to the conclusion that this existence - Earth - is a hell planet. I’ve been a spiritual seeker all of my life, exploring different religions, spiritual beliefs etc.,had/have many expensive toys, material things, went into a helping profession for a couple of decades, never really satisfied (although the helping profession, along with rescuing unwanted animals was more fulfilling than anything material in existence, and after a long journey I have come to this conclusion. Seeing what goes on in the world and how miserable so many people’s lives are through no fault of their own, the never ending suffering, man’s cruelty to each other and innocent animals, - it causes me so much depression and pain - because I know how much people and animals are suffering. I am convinced this is hell. Even as a child - when I had every reason to be happy, I never could as I thought “as long as one person or animal on this planet is suffering, there can be no happiness”. I always have this inner feeling of dread and angst and I really want out of here at this point and have often wanted to end my life but the fear that I could end up back here or somewhere worse makes me hesitate. Just my luck my consciousness would end up in an empty black void. Is there any escape from the misery ?

Asian countries claiming cultural origin are just hilarious. Every country has a beef with each other they can't accept it. China claimed Kimchi's origin, South Korea claimed Samurai, Shinobi Katana culture, and sports like Judo as their origin. Relax, we're all from China anyway. Japan is on an island isolated from you guys that we developed and updated things our way. The origin of Ninja? Who cares where they came from, Its a spy. Every historical war has spys playing a role. We call it shinobi thats it. Besides, they werent even called ninja until the 1950s. Just watch, in a couple years, they gonna say Manga, anime was our culture first 🤣

When you say we have to start looking at these outdated practices, who's we. Only a Ryuha can change its practices. Which Ryu do you belong to? Seiza no Bu is a good example of a valid reason for the existence and practice of a set of waza that isn't for combat use but as a development process. I will go back to the point I have made in the past. I don't think you are qualified to comment on this topic& that your motivation in this matter is financial.

These videos are excellent! I bought this book, it's great. In fact I have seven of your books now. I love everything that I'm reading, keep up the great work Antony! I also think that what you are doing with Natori Ryu is fantastic! Keep tracking down the old scrolls for us. Even the book, The Lost Samurai School, Secrets of Mubyoshi Ryu is amazing. There are so many wow moments.. through all of these books!

I agree with you look around you everything you Everything you see, whether it is exposed to heat to be ready or uses heat, and even chemical reactions in the human body, is a process of combustion. I am a Muslim and I found this in the Qur’an, not the known version, but the version hidden among the words.

I think we need to start with a good definition of "Half Swording". Half swording according to those in the HEMA comunity is to grab the blade and usually using it to thrust between the plates of armour. So in many cases the sword becomes like a spear. Half swording is also good in close combat where one needs to use it in a confined space, or sometimes to block and move into a grappling range and even hitting with the pommel/guard with both hands on the blade. This is what I have seen when I have participated in medieval sword lessons and spoken to experts on the subject. From what is posted in your video I would say that apart from one image at 2.06 (Source Needed) these are nothing like half swording unless of course we are going to go with any use of the hand on a sword is half swording in this context. Also of course we have to be careful with images as we do not know if they are accurate and made by warriors who knew those techniques. Be interesting though to see the use of the Japanese sword in half sword as personally I cannot see why it would not be used. PS see Tachi Uchi from page 191 of Hatsumi's Japanese Sword Fighting book. There he has his hand supporting the blade to cut.

I agree wholeheartedly that the interest in the Samurai, and the Ninja is waining. It was not like it was in the 1980s. As someone trying to run a martial arts school teaching these arts, I have seen a huge downturn in students. Yet is it is a shame as people are missing so much. Unfortunately the modern organisations such as the Bujinkan have not helped at all.

Perhaps this video gets it partially correct. Perhaps hell is in fact a cycle of reincarnations. Perhaps our past sinful lives dictate how much we are to suffer in this life. But perhaps the way out of this cycle is not to become perfect, but to accept what Jesus did for us on the cross. Perhaps Jesus is the only way out of the cycle of reincarnation called “hell”
